president obama is set to hold a news conference this afternoon where he will address donald trump's election. as the dust settles in post election america... state lawmakers are starting to look forward with goals for wisconsin. republicans will have the largest majorities in the state senate and assembly-- they've seen in decades. many voters last week-- talking concerns over job security and the economy. republican state lawmakers say they're read national republicans-- to ease federal regulations on businesses. state democrats say there's a lot of added pressure on republicans now. at the national level." "it is all on their shoulders right now, so it's up to them to walk the walk and talk the talk. if they're going to do it, they have to actually show us some results. if they are claiming that they are the ones who are better for the economy, and better for the working people." continues today with more sunshine, a light westerly breeze and highs in the mid to upper 50s. tonight is partly cloudy and cool with lows falling back to near 40. we're still awaiting winter weather... but this week marks "winter awareness week" here in wisconsin. emergency officials want drivers to prep their cars for the coming months. how. it doesn't feel like it today but snow is coming and this winter awareness week is the time to make sure you're prepared for its arrival as winter arrives... some drivers will need to re-acclamate to being behind the wheel in the snow. the first couple are a little tricky as gets used to need to do again waukesha county deputy jennifer wallschlaeger says most winter crashes can back to this: too fast for conditions is mainly

vote-- before milwaukee county's 2017 budget is on the books. one ?major tax change-- for milwaukee county residents is a new wheel tax. when you register your car, you'd have to pay an extra 30-dollars. the county expects the tax to raise more than 13 million dollars in 20-17. prisons in the u-s, including here in wisconsin, are experimenting with a high- priced monthly injection that could help addicted inmates stay off opioids after they are released.federal government has approved spending more than 23 million dollars vivitrol. in wisconsin... prisoners who are within four months of release would be eliglable for the treatment.a single shot of vivitrol lasts for four weeks and costs as much as one thousand dollars. times running out on a clean slate for those with an outstanding municipal warrant in milwaukee. the final warrant withdrawal is wednesday. special walk-in sessions begin at municipal court at 8-30 a-m.. to get those warrants lifted for free. this week is national apprenticeship week. it follows governor walker's proclamation declaring

more news now chicago police are sending a message to gang members and violent offenders. the police department launched an initiative this weekend to crack down on crime and drugs with the help of federal and state agencies. their goal is to break up gangs in the so-called "hot zones" on the city's west and south sides. "all this is in an effort to let people k won't tolerate the violence that's going on in our city right now. the results of the weekend operation will be released today. there have been more than six-hundred homicides in chicago this year and the city is on track to have its deadliest year in two decades. heavy rains forced at least 8- thousand people from their homes in the dominican republic.sixty communities remain without power after rivers overflowed. several shelters are open for victims.
